HP DesignJet Wide-Format Series

hp-design-jet.jpgAmong some of the older HP inkjet printers, the DesignJet 500/800 series provide graphic design enthusiasts the ability to print in wide format. Ideal for Graphic Art, these printer is equipped with four ink cartridges making it easier to create colorful banners, posters, and presentations on 42-inch paper.

Replacement ink cartridges are available in two sizes, standard and hi-yield capacity. The standard HP 82 (CH566A) ink cartridges holds 28ml of ink allowing for great results and fade-resistant color. The hi-yield capacity produces superior brilliant and true natural images with 2.5 times more ink.

To identify the high-yield cartridge, look for the C4911A, it has 69ml of ink. Both, the low and high-yield are numbered as HP82, but low yield is listed under HP82 (CH566A) and high-yield HP82 (C4911A). However, the high-yield is not compatible with the following printers: HP DesignJet 10ps Printer, HP DesignJet 111 24-in Printer, HP DesignJet 120 Printer, HP DesignJet 120nr Printer, HP DesignJet 20ps Printer, HP DesignJet 50ps Printer.

For those looking to save further, a continuous ink system is available for this particular models: HP DesignJet 500, HP DesignJet 500ps, HP DesignJet 800, HP DesignJet 800ps, HP DesignJet 815, MFP (MultiFunction Printer). The UCI System consists of a high-capacity ink reservoir (same as using between 5-8 ink cartridges per color) that is attached to a cartridge via secure tubing.
