If packaging is removed, and cartridges are not in use, you should put them in at least two poly bags, to avoid direct contact from airs and dust. After putting your spare set of cartridges, you should place them in an airtight box, so to skip any chances of dust and dirt.
You should remember that if cartridges are not kept safely, they might not work properly. Even more, they might not be employable anymore.
