This model of printing equipment uses the new Claria dye ink, also seen on the R260 and R380 letter size printers. This new inks have improved scratch and water resistance feature when compared to the previous generation. The Epson 1400 uses six individual Inkjet Cartridges: black, cyan, light cyan, magenta, light magenta and yellow. Also, the printer utilizes variable drop sizes with a minimum size of 1.5 picoliters and a maximum resolution of 5760×1440 dpi. The output is excellent reproduction with fine tonal gradations and no visible banding on prints.
