Cleaning cartridges is not as difficult as it seems to be. Cleaning your inkjet cartridges require your inkjet printer of course, paper towels, distill water and cotton swabs. Cleaning printer cartridges step by step is explained below:
- Unplug the power cord of the printer before you are going to clean the printer cartridges.
- Make sure all parts have stopped moving and the power indicator light is off so that you may not harm yourself while cleaning as well as damage your printer.

- After removing the ink cartridges place them safely down on a paper towel.
- Find the copper colored circuitry strip, generally located on the back of the cartridge. Clean this portion completely with the help of a cotton swab after squeezing with mineral water.
- Find the carriage contacts located on the back wall of the ink cartridge. Clean these contacts with a cotton swab containing a little bit of moisture.
- Use another cotton piece to remove any moisture left on the copper colored circuitry strip and the contacts you’ve cleaned.
