The high-priced original HP ink cartridges are compelling printer users to look for other alternatives. This has led to an increase in demand for compatible HP ink cartridges, as they come at half the price of an original cartridge. Another great alternative which is also being preferred by people is the refilling of cartridges. By refilling cartridges one can save a decent amount of money.
HP Inkjet Cartridges can be refilled at ink refilling outlets or office supply stores but if one wants to do the refilling himself then there are certain guidelines that one needs to follow in order to increase the longevity of the printer cartridges.
- One should avoid putting off refilling of the cartridge for too long once the ink gets over. This is because the ink residue in the cartridges dries up quickly and chokes the nozzle of the cartridge. It is really important to keep the nozzle clean so that the ink can flow smoothly on to the print head
- The metal parts of the cartridge come in contact with the print head. So, while refilling the cartridge one should avoid touching the metal parts as it could hamper the print quality later on.
- Spills are inevitable during the refilling process and if the cartridge is put back in the printer while they leak, there are chances that the printer might get damaged. If one notices that the cartridges are leaking, one should immediately staunch the leaking with paper towels. Just a dab is more than enough and rubbing the cartridge with the towel should be avoided.
Handling the cartridges carefully during refilling, gives one an option of reusing the cartridges upto eight times. By taking appropriate steps one could not only extend the ink cartridge’s longevity but also help the printer to work in the correct manner.
