Several types of inkjet cartridge exist; vacuum retained, sponge filled Uni-color, multi-color, and reservoir only. Of all, the multi-color ink cartridge can be most problematic when refilling. It is because when refilling multi-color cartridges, your biggest concern is not to allow any of the reservoirs to spill out or mix with other colors. This will cause a mess or some grubby colored prints will come out when you use the printer.
Don’t be concerned if the ink spills out a little bit you can wipe off the outlet holes with a moist cloth for the cartridge to work properly. If you notice that the cartridge is leaking up to a significant amount, then you may run into an actual problem. In that case, you have to take expert’s suggestion or read the user manual to handle the problem.
If you have decided to refill your multi-color cartridges, you will need all your supplies. Before you start with, make sure to spread some paper towels or old newspaper on the workplace. Wear your rubber gloves that come with the refill kit and put an apron in order to avoid ink stains. Then take the empty cartridge out of the printer and place it on the paper towels that you have laid on the ground. Follow the instruction from the inkjet refill kit to make sure you are doing everything correct and accurately. When you are refilling a multi-color cartridge, use a toothpick and dip it in the cartridge chamber to test what color the particular chamber contains. Use the syringe and gently fill it with ink. Then place the cartridge back to its position and give it a test run.
