A cousin of mine started a DTP shop recently. Like all newbies, he too did not know how to refill his ink cartridge. So, when the cartridge called, he had little option but to call for me. I live at stone’s throw and took hardly a minute to drop at his shop. I did refill his cartridge and explained how to refill a new one. And I decided to put the process for you too to share.
The first thing you need to do is to go through the instructions that came with the refilling kit. Have your refilling kit, some paper towels and clear scotch tape ready. You must use the correct ink for your cartridge type. For instance, if you are using an HP 92 inkjet cartridge, do not use an HP 88 ink cartridge refilling kit for toner cartridge refill
Use the folded paper towel to remove the cartridge from the printer. Get the fill holes atop the cartridge and pierce with a sharp pencil. Handclasp the cartridge to equalize the pressure. Insert the long needle from the refill bottle into the refilling hole and pour the ink into the cartridge. However, be careful that the cartridge does not overflow.
Clean the injector tools well between each color, so a color does not mix with the other. When you are through with the refill, ensure that the cartridge is clean and ink does not leak into the printer. If you blot the print head on the kitchen paper, it would stop the color from leaking. Refill the cartridge and print something right away. It would help to check that the printer is perfectly installed and also get the ink flowing. It is recommended to refill ink cartridges as soon as possible rather than leaving them to fill later.
