Canon has smart chip installed in their Inkjet cartridge which serve several purposes. This chip prevents the installation of third-party ink cartridges in Canon printers, and if installed the chip identify errors and display error messages to the printer’s display. Most of the ink cartridge problems arise from user errors such as improper installation or non-supportive cartridge usage. However, you can troubleshoot your Canon inkjet cartridge chip by observing and considering the error messages that appear on the display of your printer.
Similar to Error code ‘E5’, ‘E6502’ appears when your ink cartridge is not properly aligned in its holder. Turn down the power of your printer, remove and reinstall the ink cartridge properly and then wait for two minutes for the printer to align. When you get error code E6502 it means that there is an error in the ink-tank position. To clear the error, reinstall your inkjet cartridge, and check whether it is aligned properly in its holder.
When error is indicated, first hold down resume button and then hold power button so that both of them are held down at the same time. When green light is lit, continue holding the power button and then the resume button. Press the resume button twice and then press the power button.
Wait until printer settles down. If power is off, then turn it on. Then wait for 15-20 seconds before turning power on. This process normally solves the error problem, and if it still persists then you should go through the same procedure again, otherwise contact an expert.
