If you now have purchased a new set of OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) or remanufactured ink cartridges for your Canon inkjet printer, but the printer screen display reads error: ‘E5’, you should remove the ink cartridge(s) and reinstall it/them again. This error refers that the ink cartridges(s) was/were not installed correctly.
To reset this error, you need to first turn off the power of the printer. Then, while holding the stop or reset button, turn on the power on your printing device. Remember, while holding the power button, release stop/reset button and then push it twice. After this process is done, wait about 25-30 seconds until the LED displays ‘0’. Then push the stop/reset button four times. Finally, push the Power button of your printer twice. At last turn off the printer at the end and then turn it on again.
Canon Error E5 generally occurs when the ink cartridges are not installed or a non-relevant inkjet cartridge is installed or the cartridges are not installed properly. Check your cartridge properly and try using it in some other printer because this problem is caused when refilled cartridge is used or may be your new cartridge is defective. You can also call the customer care of your locality and seek help from them. It is recommended to contact Canon to check your cartridge for any malfunctioning and troubleshoot the error. You can even try with another new cartridge, because in some cases the cartridges are defective which your printer doesn’t accept.
