Mr. OEM Meets Mr. Compatible Resulting in Big Ink Cartridge Problem

It is important to remember that Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) ink and compatible ink don’t always get along. If you have decided to refill a new cartridge, find out if there is a way to prime the old ink out. Some OEM ink or toner may not mix well with new refill inks.  In fact, mixture of two qualities of ink can give you unpredictable problems most of the time.  Make sure to do a little research before introducing your new ink or toner refill, to the OEM cartridge.

Using a compatible product should produce the same quality output as the original ones; however, there are a few tips to be followed for better results. Always make sure to use compatible cartridges with no traces of original ink left in the printer. This is because both these varieties of ink may contain different formulations of ink, each specially formulated to work in a particular way. When you mix the OEM and compatible cartridges, some variations may be seen in color and quality and in some cases clogging in the print head. Therefore, if you have mixed them together you need to ensure that you take out the cartridges and then run the cleaning program to clear ink that is still left and then replace with new ink.

Another outcome of taking OEM and compatible cartridges is that the chips on the cartridges may vary and may cause inconsistency, resulting in the compatible cartridges not being recognized by the printer. Stay informed to keep your inkjet cartridges problem free!
