An inkjet cartridge is a unit made of plastic that contains liquid ink and is used in the inkjet printer.  Each printer generally has two types of cartridges- the multi-color and the black cartridges. The multi-color ink cartridge is one that has chambers inside it to separate the different colors.

Once put in a printer, the cartridge is usually fastened by a holder that is attached to a bar. When you run your printer, the cartridge starts printing as soon as it gets the command from the computer. At the moment the ink comes out onto the paper, it bonds with the paper fibers thus creating the text and image that you want your computer to print.

Multi-color ink cartridges come with separate chambers which hold each color of ink. When it comes to refilling it is important to cover and tape over the other chambers in order to avoid mixing up of colors. Overfilling any of the chambers can result in printing incorrectly as well.

Refilling is an affordable alternative to replacement cartridges. But refilling can also be messy if you do not know how to move on step by step. The best thing you can do is either to do-it-yourself procedure or to entrust the refilling to some professional company or individual. To let you know, do-it-yourself refilling process is easy and more cost-effective, but in that case you should read carefully the user’s manual and then move on accordingly. Make sure to keep paper towel, old newspaper nearby to protect ink spills by covering the area where you are intended to do the job.
