Epson Resetter – How to Reset Epson Inkjet Cartridges

chip-resetter-for-epson.jpgTHE UNI-KIT CHIP RESETTER is used to reset the chip on an Epson inkjet cartridge, and does not change the property of the cartridge itself. In order to reuse an Epson ink cartridge, it needs to be both “reset” and “refilled”.

HOW TO USE THE UNI-KIT RESETTER
The pins on the resetter should tightly contact the terminals on the chip of the cartridge, be sure to press against the pins firmly. After a few seconds, the LED indicator will light up and flash about 2~4 times in red, if the LED turns green, it means the resetting operation has been successfully completed. If the LED turns red, it could mean that the chip on the cartridge is abnormal and not resettable. Once the cartridge has been reset, refill it and install it into the printer

Press the terminals of the cartridge chip firmly against the pins on the resetter

* IMPORTANT – FOR T068 / T069 / T077 / T078 (9-PIN) CARTRIDGES:

This Uni-Kit resetter will work on 9 chip cartridges, as shown on the diagram.  The 4 top pins of the resetter must make contact with the 4 top terminals on the chip; the 3 bottom pins of the resetter must make contact with the 3 center terminals on the chip (you do not need to reset the 2 terminals on the chip that are to the far right or far left). Please be sure to refill the cartridge before reinstalling it into the printer.

TROUBLESHOOTING
1. The LED in the universal chip resetter does not flash/turn green. Answer: a). Make sure that the pins make good contact with the chip terminals b). If the chip is not made by the original cartridge manufacturer, the resetter may not recognize it.

2. Cartridges with 9 terminals on the chip could not be recognized* Answer: For cartridges with 9 terminals on the chips (T068, T069, T077 and T078 cartridges), the printer reads more than just the chip when determining the ink level status for the cartridge. The printer also reads ink level sensors INSIDE the cartridge, so the cartridge needs to be both properly resetted AND properly refilled in order for the printer to recognize it as full. During the refilling process, air could enter into the sensor areas. Make sure there is no air in the refill pockets (see image).

Please note that this resetter is designed to reset OEM (original brand) chips. It is not possible to test it or develop it to work on all types of 3rd party compatible chips, while we know that it does work on 3rd party compatible chips that we have tested, we cannot guarantee that it will work on all compatible chips, but it is guaranteed to work on the original brand chips.
